Cepea, March 19 2019 – The trading pace for crystal sugar was slow in Brazil in the first half of March, but prices remained firm. Despite the weakened demand, lower supply of higher quality sugar (Icumsa up to 150) underpinned quotes in the Brazilian spot market. Only a few refineries have started crushing the sugarcane from the 2019/20 season, but rains interrupted fieldwork in many regions in the first fortnight of the month
