Imports decline over 12 months; quality raises concerns in RS

Cepea, October 19, 2026 – Brazilian wheat imports decreased over the last 12 months, while the progress of harvesting in Southern Brazil has kept the market focused on yields and grain quality. In Rio Grande do Sul, adverse weather conditions have raised concerns, while in Paraná, difficulties in obtaining Type 1 wheat have led to contract adjustments and delivery postponements, according to Cepea collaborators. Therefore, the limited supply of wheat meeting the quality standards required by processors may increase the need for imports in the coming months
