Cepea, January 12, 2018 – After two consecutive seasons when production was lower than consumption worldwide, forecasts for the current 2017/18 global sugar crop indicate this scenario should change. Higher production in India, Thailand and the European Union have increased expectations for a sugar surplus in the next season. The International Sugar Organization estimates the surplus to surpass 4 million tons, while the USDA forecast it to surpass 10 million tons
